  1. Retiring

Can't remember the first competition I acted as T.O. but it was 15 years ago or so. Since then I have organised SAA target comps, AIUK comps and recently SAA field champs comps. No idea how many over all but a fair amount. I did it because I wanted to and enjoyed every minute of it.

Saying that, I have decided that the SAA field champs at the end of the month will be my last one. Time to move aside and let the new blood take over, shoot a bit more and relax :-)

  2. Hi All

Hell I can't remember the last time I posted a blog. Just back from Texas for a week of man's archery Putting the finishing touches on the field course for the SAA Scottish Field Champs, and getting ready to tutor an Archery Leader Course later this month.

My bow arm shoulder is killing me and ironically it was fine until I participated in a day of shooting at the local pheasant shoot about a month ago. Stuck the lightweight limbs on my bow so I can hopefully heal up some time ...

  3. Information gathering and well done son!

As coaches and archers we don't know it all and never will. But if we make an effort to gather and disseminate information from good sources we can learn and improve.

In two weeks my youngest son is graduating from Edinburgh University. His degree is Sports Science and he was awarded a First-Class. He's the first student in 4 years to get a "First" in the sports science programme.

Needless to say we are very proud of him I have been picking his brain about ...

  4. Archery season nearly over

In less than 4 weeks I'm chained to the business for 5 months or so and archery time is going to be a bit thin on the ground. It's been a great winter though. Spent loads of time out on the field course, working on it and shooting.

I spent a fair amount of time getting in all the leader courses I needed for a leader tutor qualification and also managed some coaching in a couple other clubs.

The club is going well and GNAS field is on the up and up in Scotland. Now that ...

  5. Record Status shoot getting closer

A couple years on now and we are "almost" there. I have managed to get an appropriately qualified field judge to commit to coming "up north" and judge our next open shoot on 17 April 2010. Before we can hold an RS FITA Field comp in Scotland we need to have our course, organisation of the shoot etc. assessed by a field judge and hopefully get a good report which will enable us to then organise an RS comp.

Tony from the Lakes area has kindly agreed to do this for ...
