    Folding bow stands for recurve

    Hi,

I'm thinking of changing my tube type bow stand. The legs are kept inside the tube for storage and screw into the bottom of the tube to make a stand. It's fiddly and tedious.

I'm looking for a folding stand that is suitable indoors and out, one that is set up or packed away in a few seconds.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers

It's not often I say anything nice about a Cartel product, but the Cartel RX10 stand is excellent. Quite long, but folds up quickly and neatly. It can hold a bow either vertically or horizontally, so it's handy when doing maintenance work too. And it has a ground spike for outdoors, which slots away when indoors.

Looks good. Just how long/wide is it when folded up?

I've had 2 RX10s (only reason for getting the second was colour co-ordination) and I'd agree that it's a good product. However, as with all Cartel products the manufacturing tolerances are a bit rubbish. On the current stand I'm using the thread on the leg locking system jams almost everytime and I have to "persuade" it to unscrew while packing up. The other RX10 I had did not have this problem.

Thanks for all your help, guys.

    At 23", it's a bit huge.

Has anyone had experience of the Sherwood folding bow stand, or the Sebastian Flute Elite bow stand?

I have a SF bow stand - similar to the elite if it's not the actual one - I find it excellent - was worried about losing legs on the magnetic type!

Does it have a ground spike for outdoors?

Nope. Can't see why it would need one.

Have a look at the Cartel RX-105....

The 105 model has magnetic feet, so no need to screw them in - a simple stanf that does the job perfectly.

I currently use the RX10, which is also nice...as someone else mentioned it also comes in handy for basic maintenance ie. string alignment. It also has more adjustment available compared to the fairly similar W&W stand.

Sherwood here, the one with the string holder / tensioner. Well made, very large, but not easily transported. Manufacuring is decent quality and it is VERY stable. Spike built in. All in all a very stable device that does everything, however it is VERY large in comparison to my WW or 'pod'. Do you want stability or size for transport?
