    Question Increase draw length

I have searched for this, but not found a satisfactory <sp?> answer. My draw length is longer than the maximum draw length on my cams (Hoyt cam & 1/2) and I need to find a way to increase the draw length. I cannot afford new cams, so that course of action is out. I have increased my d - loop length as a temporary measure, but I would prefer sorting it out at the bow. I dont have a bowpress, or know anyone that has, and WAS are closed until later in October. How could I get more draw length? Would I have to get longer strings, or would adding some twists help? I am asking, because I am almost certainly going to be getting a Carter Insatiable+ (or similar) soon, which means I get a different draw length than with my TRU ball stinger.

    Any solutions welcome.

can't give a clear answer on this one as yet. An archery shop such as a shop or Aardvarcs will know the answer to this one. Whatever the answer though, it's not a quick fix and you WILL need a bow press, maybe new strings and maybe new cams. Considered shortening your arms?

I had considered shortening my arms, but I thought it might be slightly easier to alter the bow than my body. Ill try and find out from W.A.S what to do when they open again.

A longer bowstring gives a longer draw length. Whether you should do that or not, I'm not sure. Perhaps a small increase would be OK.

Depends how much length you need to gain. if you're talking a small amount - less than half an inch - you could try adding twists to the cables (add twice as many twists to the control cable as you add to the buss cable). 3 turns into the buss cable should do it. This will increase draw weight and draw length, but you'll need to check and possibly reset your timing too.

You can also take a few (2 or 3) turns out of the string, but be careful doing this as it can screw-up your peep rotation. You need a fair few twists in the string to keep the peep rotating correctly and consistently.

To do any of this you will need a bow press, but a pocket-press (such as Bowmaster) will do fine. You can pick-up one for about 40. It's all I ever use for changing strings or cables, although I wouldn't want to start swapping axels etc wth just this.
