Do we need an hour for lunch

As athletes we are told to eat little and often throughout a competition, so why do we need an hour for lunch is it just a tradition that makes the day longer.

Most shoots I've been to it's rarely an hour. But is it a sociable event, where you can potter up and down the tent line chatting with a few folk, or is it totally focussed on the competition. In which case nothing more that a comfort break is required...we all graze throughout the day.

No, an hour for lunch is just annoying and knocks people out of rhythm. Personally I'd rather a 15 minute break between distances to have a snack, finish earlier and have the social part/BBQ after the event.

The one hour lunch break isn't designed for the " little and often" athletes. It's for those that bring a huge pile of whatever they want to eat and take their time.It is a break from the concentration, too, which might upset some, but is a time to relax for others.
Rightly or wrongly, it is the same for everyone on the day.

The organisers can't take into account the impatience of some archers. Or the fact they packed a breakfast, instead of breakfast and lunch.Heehee.
But to answer the OP I suppose, NO, we don't need and hour, but perhaps we value it as part of why we attend the competitions.
Perhaps there could be a vote on the matter, just to see how the archers feel.
