Does anyone know where i can get a Spigarelli string jig? Alt. services have none in stock and i have not seen them stocked elsewhere.
if not,is there another made of similar quality as all the others I have seen or tried are too feeble and cannot apply tension to the string.
If all else fails i will have to make my own.Any plans out there?

Spig jig

Thanks for that, but I have now read a bit about the spig jig and it seems not as good as i thought it was!
I am hoping to get my hands on a jig made by the Archery coach Ken Bearman (who is a retired Engineer) so i will be able to draw up plans from that and make my own.Unfortunatly Ken does not make them anymore.

the Spig jig isn't bad, is fairly solid compared to a lot of the jigs out there. Definatley miles better than the arten one our club has!

Centreshot sells it, I think. I think the one I got from there is a Spigarelli, but it doesn't seem to have a brand label on it anywhere obvious.

As I type, Peter is downstairs using our Spig to make a string for a club bow. It's been great, and is much more substantial than the club owned one. With 3 of us shooting, as well as Peter encouraging club members to try making their own, the jig makes loads of strings. The only criticism I have is that the bolts that lets the ends swivel could have had a wing type top to let you tighten /loosen by hand, I have to use a spanner, which is only a slight pain, other than that it's a solid bit kit.

If you go to www.ely-archers.org.uk and download the archers reference there are details on how to make your own string maker. In fact I`m currently in the process of making my own with those very plans.
will let you know how that turns out if your interested.

[Editor's note: Archers reference is also available at the home site http://www.archersreference.co.uk/]

I've not actually played with it, but the A&F jig looks fairly solid as well.

I use a Sherwood at home (nothing special, but better than an Arten), the club has a Spiggy - nice and solid, but a pain to adjust.
