I shoot both, and I shoot compound perhaps a bit better (relatively - obviously there is a big score difference).
Neither is intrinsically "better". Though the answer could perhaps depend on what you want out of it and what you'll be using it for. If for example you aspired to be an Olympian, it has to be recurve. If you want to make a living off shooting professionally, it has to be compound (and you should practice your distance estimation skills and brush up your knowledge of North American 3-D targets). In either case, to make it to the top you will have to work supremely hard (I don't "believe" in talent (as some "god-given" or inborn quality); it's ALL up to being willing to work at it hard enough).
Which one is more fun to shoot? Well, that's just personal preference innit?
