I shoot both, and I shoot compound perhaps a bit better (relatively - obviously there is a big score difference).

Neither is intrinsically "better". Though the answer could perhaps depend on what you want out of it and what you'll be using it for. If for example you aspired to be an Olympian, it has to be recurve. If you want to make a living off shooting professionally, it has to be compound (and you should practice your distance estimation skills and brush up your knowledge of North American 3-D targets). In either case, to make it to the top you will have to work supremely hard (I don't "believe" in talent (as some "god-given" or inborn quality); it's ALL up to being willing to work at it hard enough).

Which one is more fun to shoot? Well, that's just personal preference innit?

I've shot recurve for a few years but not well. I'm trying compound and enjoying the challenge. I shoot longbow for clout and have just started doing target tournaments. So I like them all. Saw a very nice flat bow a few months ago, drool.

well in our country there is only one woman to compete in compound division (regarding oficial ranks)... maybe one day i will switch to compound so I can reach the "2nd in country" rank really fast
...also there is weel spreaded opinion that if you want to shoot compound you can shoot a rifle instead... learning to shoot the recurve after years of firearms, personally I found the recurve so beautifully hard and tricky to reach the master class that I´m not even thinking about trying compound...

I started archery barebow compound, then went recurve a few years (which I still shoot) but I have just bought myself a compound. I enjoy recurve (although mine is for sale ) but was getting frustrated with it because I am more of an aimer. So I thought I might be better suited to compound.

Having said all that, I have two barebow recurves (a Hoyt Buffalo and a Martin X150) for hunting. I do enjoy trudging through the bush.

    I haven't really answered your question have I ... ?

this is like asking which arm you like best. both require perfection of technique and form, compound may allow weaker archers to reach 90m as you can shoot a considerably higher poundage, any accuracy advantages from the speed, and equipment allowed on compounds is negated by the fact that although your scores are higher, everyone elses scores are higher too. no answer is right because it is purely down to personal preference. i shoot and enjoy both.

    Another analogy.
There are days when I really enjoy long range "tack driving" from the bench with a scoped and floated heavy barrel longarm with a scope and bipod. Other days, an old Swedish Mauser with a ramp sight is just as enjoyable. It depends.
    Programmers have more logical arguments.
