Finding the correct size serving thread for a given string and nock

Rather than try to get a perfect match of strand numbers and serving thickness for a given nock, I find it easier to stick with thinner serving thread and pad out the serving with extra strands of bowstring (or serving material) to get the required thickness.

Hi

Anyone else find it a nightmare finding the correct size serving thread?

Not any more, just wind the amount of strands around the two poles on the jig that are closest together and serve over them with your serving material, if that don't lead to a tight enough nock fit simply add strands or remove strands if too tight from your string, unwind and re-use when making your complete string. Alternatively just serve over the trailing tail of serving for the full length of the centre serving (an option and less fiddly method over that of adding extra lengths of string material under the serving) to get a larger diameter string.
