The Ironman Challenge 2017 FAQ/Info. Thread

The Ironman Challenge 2017 FAQ/Info. Thread

    What is the Ironman Challenge?
The Ironman Challenge is Archery Interchange's annual end of year fun tournament that takes place between Christmas and New Year. The tournament takes place at multiple venues across the UK (usually) at the same time and acts as a fund raiser for AIUK and the hosting club.

What round is shot during the Ironman Challenge?
7 dozen arrows outside at an 80cm target at 30 meters.

What's the date & time for this year's shoot:
This year's Ironman shoot will take place on Saturday 30th December. Please check the venue threads for the correct dates.Assembly will be 10.00am and sighters at 11.00am (this is subject to change, please check venue threads for correct times).

What is the closing date for entries?
Entry fee is 10.00 seniors and 7.50 juniors (under 16). You must be registered and paid for by 15th December 2017.This year, all Ironman materials will be posted directly to participants on or around the 17th December.
Entry after 15th December will be subject to availability and will incur a surcharge of 5.00 (entry 15.00).
Last minute entries cannot be guaranteed to receive their laminate before the day of the shoot.

    How do I register?
This year we have one step registration through the new AIUK shop!

    http://www.archeryinterchange.com/cu...nman-2017.html

GO TO REGISTRATION BY CLICKING HERE

You will need to add each archer taking part individually to the shopping cart so all the relevant information is captured.

    Where's my nearest venue?
So far we have the following venues confirmed:

    • Bowmen of Adel, Yorkshire
    • Giffnock Archers, Glasgow
    • Gordano Valley Archers, North Somerset

Please check the relevant threads in this forum for the full address of the venues.
If a venue sells out, any extra entries will be added to the reserve list and allocated places should any become available.
What if there's no venue near me?
Sorry, there's not a lot we can do. The tournament relies on local clubs volunteering to run the event. You could volunteer your club to take part (but don't forget to check with the committee first!). If you would like to put your club forward to take part in this year's event please PM me.

Who can take part in the Ironman Challenge?
The tournament is open to all registered members of Archery Interchange who can meet the criteria of the clubs participating; i.e. if the venue is a GNAS club and it's a requirement of the club that all registered participants be GNAS members then you must be a GNASmember. Some clubs do hold their own insurance to allow anyone to shoot so please check the local venue details in the AIUK shop.

Are mugs and badges available this year?
Yes, there will be limited quantities of badges and mugs available.

What do we get for freezing our bottoms off?
Hopefully, a lot of fun and some new equally as mad friends but... medals should be available in the following categories:

    • Compound Unlimited (senior)
    • Compound Unlimited (junior)
    • Horsebow (unmounted senior)
    • Horsebow (unmounted junior)
    • Longbow (senior)
    • Longbow (junior)
    • Recurve Freestyle (senior)
    • Recurve Freestyle (junior)
    • Recurve Barebow (senior)
    • Recurve Barebow (junior)
    • American Flatbow (senior)
    • American Flatbow (junior)

For a medal to be awarded there must have been at lease five entries in the category.
Please note that for the purposes of this competition Juniors are classed as participating archers aged 15 years or younger.

    How do I pay?
PayPal is the preferred option. However, if you wish to pay by cheque or Postal Order please PM Dave.

If there's any questions not answered above, please feel free to ask them below.

    Oops, sorry! Rectified!

Can anyone remember what rules were decided on for the Horsebow entries?
I seem to remember them roughly following the Traditional Recurve in the Rules of Shooting but could be wrong.

If memory serves it was "Traditional Recurve" rules in previous years. I'd prefer to see "no cutaway handles" too but that's coz I'm a cantankerous old codger!
