    bow string issues

i've just struggled to attach a 60" string to my 60" recurve, the brace height is about 11"!!, i don't think removing any twists is gonna do much, any advice as to what I can do would be appreciated.

Sounds like either your bow is longer than 60" or your string isn't for a 60" bow, and has been mis-packaged.

You need a longer string. What brand /model is your bow?

If you let off the tension from the string so the top loop is part way down the top limb, with the string held finger tight there should be about 2 1/2" required to reach the top nock for stringing. From your results, every inch below that 2 1/2" will show you how much longer the string should be. Then remove your current string, pull it tight by hand and measure how long it is. Add on what was required, to get the correct length string. Then order one that is that long.... don't just ask for a string for a 60" bow.
Just read your most recent post. I would follow what I wrote just to double check; the string you have sounds about 1 1/2" too short.

Does the bow have a recommended brace height? The ATA standard is for strings to be 3" shorter than the bow length to achieve the recommended brace height, although a lot of the time recurve strings need to be more like 3.5-4" shorter, I believe. Regardless of measurements, it sounds like a new, longer string will be required to achieve a lower brace height. If it's Dacron, I think sometimes these strings may be supplied a little shorter than other materials on the basis that they stretch once shot in.
