I am not sure what to do now. I am concerned about cancelling the sale on a suspicion.

Is there any implications of cancelling the sale that you know of??

Only you can make that call. But see what he has to say.

    No implications i can see.

However, if you do go through with it I’d be interested to hear how you get on.

If the guy's actually paying then trying to claim the item never arrived then why not just send it through a properly tracked courier like Fedex?
They won't deliver without a signature if you specify so, that way you can just present the delivery proof to Paypal and it's case closed.

Paypal and the likes aren't stupid and likely dealing with similar all the time.
[ Picture awesome signature here ]

sorry I over simplified for brevity. They are claiming it arrives not as described, or broken (but not in a way the insurance on carriage will pay out) or there is another reason for refund via buyers protection. In fact its well documented that PayPal and eBay rarely investigate and often just pay on buyers word. Their rules are to keep people buying not keep people selling.

    well documented here.

The fact the guy claims to be in Essex, and of one name (Indian style name) then wants item send to a drop ship company in Essex to be shipped overseas, payment comes form a different name in Chinese style characters and when challenged says its complicated but cannot explain. All sounds fishy.

Anyway posted here as a caution, as ever YMMV.
