    Very true!! I think in 1900 they had live pigeon shooting... it didn't come back in 1904, not because of animal rights, but because it took too long to clean the mess up...

    Yes, the shooting I was at was pistol shooting.

    People worry about archery being a lousy spectator sport but this particular pistol event was the most boring thing I've ever seen. In the qualifying round for the 50m pistol event the competitors have 90 minutes to take 60 shots at the target. When the event started most competitors weren't there. They dribbled in over the first half hour, some started shooting others had a coffee, one started chatting to me.

    There were loads of spectators (any ticket was better than no ticket) and they were bored out of their skulls. I suggested they go outside and watch the clay shooting.

    Just imagine a radio commentary of the pistol shooting!!! Not much different from watching the event I suspect. heehee

    I did love the rifle range though...



    and the way they run the final with shots being worth up to 10.9 to allow shooters catch up (the Spanish guy entered the finals in 3rd and the Brit had been 6th)
