    The bolts allow some weight adjustment as well as tiller...
    It is sounding like the new string is a bit short.

    Only one of the reasons why many of us prefer making our own strings...

    One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the bow will be quietest at optimum bracing height. If you know a good musician then get them to stand next to you when varying the bracing height between the limits recommended by the bow manufacturer and they should be able to assess the setting with the least sound.

    I do a paper plate test to establish the bracing height but it is time consuming and uses a lot of paper plates. You might be able to search it somewhere.
