When ever this happens to me it is because my draw hand is breaking contact with my face/neck when I release.

Basically the thumb of my draw hand normally slides along the side of my neck during my follow through, if not the arrow goes left.

It may be that once in a while your release is just a bit off your normal good form. Combine this with marginal clearance, i.e. okay for 90% of your shots with good form, but for the slightly off release it causes contact with the bow.

Two reasons I get it - 1) Not tucking the release hard into my neck/jawline. 2) Gripping too hard and torquing the bow.

You should not be gripping the bow at all. shoot with an open hand and use a good fingersling

I don't and I do and I do. But I didn't in the early days.

I seem to remember you were happy with your performance during the 'early days' perhaps you should back to not gripping the bow?
