    Archery uk magazine

A letter caught my attention, the author said that the plastic bag covering the magazine should be changed to paper to cut down on single use plastics. That got me thinking. Why have a paper magazine at all???? surely it would be better for the environment if we got the magazine as a email attachment ??? No paper, no printing costs and no postage. Also nothing to recycle.
OK so some here may like a real magazine. Where do you stand? electronic or paper?

paper... and of course, it's your choice, as AGB do an electronic version of the magazine on the website.

I have had electronic magazines in the past and I just don't read them. I find that I have to either read them on a pc which is an encumberance or on my phone which is like reading through a keyhole. I know that a tablet would be an ideal solution but I'm not buying more electronics just to read ArcheryUK.

In my opinion the issue is that they are trying to emulate the magazine format, probably because the paper version has already been produced and it's little extra effort to pdf (or whatever the format du jour is) it. I mean, page turn animations. Really?

If the paper version were dropped the thing that ought to replace it in my opinion is a news website like the BBC or The Register, updated every day with a few articles, and with a feedback facility. To be honest, I think that the abilty to comment on articles would be a real fillip to member engagement.

Our fees surely wouldn't go down. Monies saved would go straight to contributing authors!!!
