I've just uploaded the entry form for the Fort Purbrook 2011 Field shoot.
This will be a 2 day FITA round, Arrowhead and Record Status. We will be using more of the Fort than last time, and if you want accommodation there are rooms available in the Fort for only ?10 per person per night. (You have to supply your own bedding though, a sleeping bag would be fine)
If you want more details let me know, or have a look at our website. Purbrook Bowmen
Last years Foresters was good, hopefully this should be better

English Bowman - how many places are there this year, and from past experience, how fast does this shoot fill up? I have a conflict on that weekend and not sure what to commit to yet.. Thanks!

The short answer is that I don't know how quick that it will fill up, this is a new shoot. I think that it will be popular because of the location, but I am only guessing.
We've had 3 entries before the forms were even out, and can take 96 people. I'll keep people posted here as to how quickly it fills.

Daniel, I think we'll have a few people from our club this year.

I know Sarah and I will be definately doing it. Along with Ian Payne and Rob Smith. I'm sure I can drag along a few others aswell.

For those of you who've already downloaded the entry form, I've updated it to add that the Hampshire Champs are decided on the Marked round only. The Open is decided over both days. We've decided to do this so that Hampshire target archers who aren't sure of distance judging can come and have a go without worrying about how far the targets are. Obviously everybody is welcome to come and shoot both days to compete in the Open, and if someone can only make the Saturday we'll be happy to see them for the unmarked round only.
(I should have checked the form properly before uploading it, and sending it out)

I thought I'd seen something about the overnight accomodation!!

Do you want that payment with the entry form, or will "on the day" be sufficient? 1 bed for me please! :D (have brought form and cheque to be posted today, but left cheque book at home!)

I'll have to speak to the management of the Fort to find out how and when they want the payment for accommodation, I'll do that next week and add details as soon as I have them.

Just realised I may have filled my form wrong - what's the deal with the pegs bit on the form?? Is this some GNAS or FITA field shoot methodology that I'm blissfully and naively unaware of?

It's mainly for juniors or novices. For senior archers, if you are using a sight you'll shoot from the red pegs, if not then your'll shoot from the blue pegs. (Juniors or novices may shoot from nearer pegs if they want)

Is there anything to stop me shooting barebow (hunting tackle) from the red peg?

Do we not move forward a peg for each shot (I'm assuming 3 attempts to hit the target)?

You could shoot barebow from the red peg, but I wouldn't recommend it. All 3 arrows are shot from the same peg, and if you're worried about all the blue pegs being too close that won't be the case. Distances for the blue pegs go out to 50m, at that distance you'll be shooting at an 80cm target face.
All the adult barebow / trad / longbow archers will be shooting from the blue peg as standard, and to give you an idea of the difficulty the British national record for Gent's Trad (H/T) for the marked round is 289 out of a maximum 432 points. (The average trad score is about 200 I'd say with the good archers averaging about 240 - 250)
