It's just different, AGB membership would not demonstrate competence. I've shot NFAS for years but wouldn't have a clue at an AGB shoot even to the extent of where to stand and when to shoot. Most would be ok with a little chat I'm sure.
The world of archery is very top heavy with rules and people who love them.. Apart from safety of course.

I just saw your post on the 3D page. I've never looked at IFAA before. Started to read the rule book, blimey, not an easy read, got to the membership fees section where it says 100euro and decided not to go any further :)

To be honest I have an appalling lack of Field Archery knowledge or anything outside AGB really. Am I correct in thinking there are a number of Field Archery clubs in the uk?...
EFAA
NFAS
IFAA
SFAA
NIFAA
WFAA

and Target Archery. (both field and target)..
AGB
ANI
STAFAA

Longbow...
ILAA
BL-BS

not to mention the likes of the EAF and regional societies.
Have I missed any? Seems archery lacks a real identity in the UK.... and I know nothing about my own sport :)

There's also the Northern Field Federation.

Isn't the IFAA an international umbrella organisation?

Oh, yes you are right :) and thanks for the NFF. Archery GB seem to have a monopoly on search engine results so not surprising if most people start there.

Weird. But then I wander around woods looking for lost arrows as a hobby so who am I to judge?
Feel free to wander round our woods anytime- unfletched Timbercreek 400 and a black, white and yellow flouro Linkboy 500 somewhere behind the practice butts are your only clues.

Bill Terry who owns and runs The Butts is a great believer in serving Sherry in large wine glasses rather than tiny schooners - have to say though that he lays on a superb buffet for mid-session break and cake whilst waiting for scores to be sorted out and during awards.

Compared to the drug & alcohol testing permissions sheet that came with an NRS shoot application I saw earlier this week I think old school wins.

Bill also has the most amazing longbow museum, including a whole cupboard full of Victorian arrows, absolute works of art. I was on the committee of the Butts for several years, a wonderful place to shoot.

So what’s the deal with NFAS if you are AGB or IFAA member? Post #2 sounds like a whole load of hoops to jump through?

FWIW I think the multiple cliques/ governing bodies /flavours in archery are stupid, divisive and more than a little sad...
No different than the hoops you have to jump through for NFAS members to shoot at AGB clubs, not sure they would want to?
