    Standard Arrow specs

Just for my own curiosity, I'm trying to find as many 'standard' warbow arrow specs as different associations have made. My current list is: Standard Arrow Welsh Class 1/4 Pound Tudor Livery Mary Rose Crécy Poitiers Westminster Abbey Military Arrow New Zealand Bearing New Zealand Sheaf Anyone...

    Del the Cat

I'll put this in this forum as it seems the most relevant! Took a trip down to see Del yesterday for a chat and a bit of a play with some bows, I know a lot of people follow his blog on here but it bears saying that first hand you really make some absolutely gorgeous bows Del.. I play a bit...

    Hickory Problems

Had a go at binding the bow today, did as Del said, flooded it with cyanoacrylate and clamped that closed, then sanded off and bound with linen soaked in epoxy, then massaged a little more epoxy in over the top and heated it so it sank into the fibres of the wood and linen. Doing the binding was...

    Hickory Problems

I had an old bow (7 years) give up on me a few weeks ago, rebacked it with hickory (cut with the grain) to have it blow a week later, I could write that one off as rebacking a well shot in bow was always a bit iffy.. Then made another longbow (ipe/hickory) 40#@28", 70" NTN, full compass tiller...

    Sinew Backing a Bow

Hey, I've been making and braking a few longbows for a while and recently got hold of some sinew to experiment with making a shorter primitive style bow at some point in the future. Only thing is, I'm in need of a good hide glue to use for the backing, if anyone can vouch for the Liberon I'm...

    knife makeing

@Geoff Definitely have a look at TBS lynx, I just checked their range and it sounds about right, 3 1/2" blade, scandi ground which is a nice strong grind but also is easy to sharpen, you just flat the full grind on the stone, so easy to touch up for leatherwork and fine tasks. The differences...

    And then it went bang...

70# @ 30" 55" NTN with a 6 1/2" rigid handle section. This went bang the second set of times I drew it, the second time being when I'd decided it was safe to leave the safety specs off. I think its time we shared our dramatic failures haha..

    String type for Mongol horsebow

Hi there, I shoot a 55lb Mongol horsebow w. 5 1/2 looped string (among other bows) and make the strings for it, however, I'm fed up with making endless loop strings for it when all my other bows take Flemish twists.. Any ideas on whether a flemish twist string with the appropriately sized...

    Barrelling Jig

Hi there, Recently made myself a barrelling jig to taper my arrows shafts, all that bit went fine. What im looking for is some advice on how to protect/grip the arrow shaft in the chuck of a drill. I kinda need the full length out of my shafts so no room for two crushed inches where the chuck...
