    Resetting your mind

LOL, the NFAS did it for you. It's called Compound Limited, my newly adopted style. Compound off fingers with a 5 pin sight and single stab, way less popular than "bowhunter" which is the same but no sight and only a 12" stab.

Brave, I wouldn't have let him do that.

    Resetting your mind

Kernowlad, now you've had a play with twangy thing why not shoot the same way with the compound. When you're stronger / happier shoot it off fingers (med loose for preference). Assuming the compound is a relatively long ATA you should have no problem - but keep the sight as a comfort blanket...

NFAS - visitor to another club?

It's just different, AGB membership would not demonstrate competence. I've shot NFAS for years but wouldn't have a clue at an AGB shoot even to the extent of where to stand and when to shoot. Most would be ok with a little chat I'm sure.

    long arrow/fence post advice needed

Hi, if your draw length is 32 you will should be able to use 32 inch arrows which is stock length for many. Compound DL is 1.75ich past throat of the grip / berger hole so for a 32'' arrow you will have that much shaft forward past the throat. Unless I'm misunderstanding your post.

    Compound Bows

I said most. We've also got crossbows. The major factor with folk losing arrows is that they're a bit kak. The unlimited boys ain't losing many i can assure you.

    Compound Bows

Wish I could get to 300 but i shoot a C4. wrt losing arrows it's not a big deal with NFAS if it's gone after a good look it's gone. If we lose one/several the group rakes for the arrows and usually find them but i don't suppose sports fields are very keen on that.

    Compound Bows

You've lost me, what are you driving at? I was just saying at lower poundage long draw will statistically always win so it's a bad idea. Speed limit is much fairer.

    Compound Bows

I don't know what other societies rules are but NFAS have a max arrow speed of 300fps with most shooting 40 to 60lb. The problem with limiting the poundage would be that only tall people would ever win. If poundage was lowered eg. to 40 as a hard rule the 6ft+ contingent with a draw length of...

Coming back after injury; sort of.

I used to stand against a door frame and hook my draw fingers around the frame, then lean back and pull back with the one arm. It strengthens your draw arm quite well after a few weeks and you can go as easy or hard as you like.

    Cheap carbon arrows

I'd have to agree with the Allies.

    Stabilisers recommend

I've got a Beiter (30inch i think) just because it was cheap off eBay and its useful for resting on the floor instead of keep holding the bow all day. I've got/had loads of stabilisers and have never really noticed a difference aside from the length and weight you put on them. I would just buy...

    Limb dampers

I just think it became a thing that everyone ran with. I just put rubber crap on because it looks a bit tasty and doesn't seem to do any harm. Bit of fun.

    Limb dampers

I pressed the little icon and I get a load of text and various pictures including a helicopter and a lady showing her pants. On the whole an improvement on string dampeners.

    Limb dampers

Can only speak for compound but I place mine on the belly side of the limbs as far towards the cam as i can without any fouling on cables etc. For recurve i would imagine it would be different as you wouldn't want them too far towards the tips. The little blobby crosses i guess could be string...

What are the best arrows for 3D?

You've just got to watch the tendency to shoot that arrow all day (which i end up doing). "But my arrows are so pretty and I'm not quite sure - it'd be a shame to only have 11" lol.

What are the best arrows for 3D?

They're on my list if I ever get chance to mangle the 5 new sets I purchased prior to lockdown. Black Eagle Carnivores (unmade ), GT velocity and GT ultralight. I've got a couple of Dz VForce Elites which i was very happy with until i got bored and swapped. I think it's the Ultralight pro in...

What are the best arrows for 3D?

Yes NFAS, as long as they are marked up correctly. I thought about having a set of 6 skinny and 6 chunky arrows for this very reason but I dismissed the idea after thinking a bit harder due to rest/finger release. For release aid as long as you know the sight marks I guess it's not a bad idea...

    What Matters Most?

Hi, I sympathise, in these times of not being able to join a club it's tough starting out. Here's a link to the Easton guide which may be helpful with initial set up. https://eastonarchery.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/TuningGuideEaston.pdf I'm sure there's lots of books, resources etc...
