    Strange tuning issue

If it's a Dominator Duo, was it originally left handed or has someone swapped it over? If they swapped it, did they actually change the limbs around to have the correct deflections in the right place or did they just flip the cams and call it good? Stiffer deflections should be on the opposite...

    Stan Onnex Clicker thumb button

The Click will either work for you or will really mess with your head. It's pretty binary that way. Better off finding one to try before buying if you possibly can.

    Bow press ?

Might be worth £100. That design of press doesn't work on a lot of the new bows, and the supporting side arms (the thin bit of metal that's nearly vertical underneath the arms with rollers on) are surprisingly structural. I've broken one, it was amusing after the fact but wouldn't recommend it.

Interesting vid if you are considering a new riser, or are kitting out kids.

Out of interest, what put you off the Skylon stuff? On the face of it, and from my limited exposure to it, it looks like the best bang for the buck stuff on the market at the moment.

Interesting vid if you are considering a new riser, or are kitting out kids.

Jesus, this went sideways in a hurry. There's a Chinese company that is making knockoff Hoyt stuff. Jake Kaminski, who was Hoyt Prostaff (and tangentially involved in the design) when the Formula stuff was first released, bought one out of curiosity and found some issues. These issues escalated...

    How do sponsorships actually work?

https://www.merlinarchery.co.uk/sponsorship This is a reasonably good explanation. The point made above about being introduced by their existing pro staff is a very good one and is the most common one for manufacturers until you're dealing with people in the top 20 of the world ranking list who...

    Archery apps for field archery

Hi Steve, The IFAA rounds are most clearly explained on page 18 and onwards of the IFAA Archers Handbook: https://www.ifaa-archery.org/index.php/documents/rules/archers-handbook-2019 Short explanation WA IFAA Field / Hunter No. target multiple 12/24 14/28 Arrows per target 3 4...

    Archery apps for field archery

It's based on World Archery. WA works on 12 or 24, and also three arrows per target not four.

    bare shaft tuning query

You're thinking about it as though it's a perfect system which is essentially a rifle. Stop that now. How much torque do you have in the system at full draw? - is your hand position good - how close to the arrow do your cables run - what cable slider are you running - PSE wheelie thing, AAE...

    Personality wars..

It's not a particularly bad sport for people not getting on with each other. But as usual, the people involved in that sort of sh*te feel the need to loudly announce it and make sure everyone knows, and so it's easily perceived as a much bigger deal than it is. It also seems to be more...

Buying from outside of the UK

It's still worth buying some things from overseas, but it depends exactly what it is. Ten years ago, bows, sights and release aids from the US were an absolute bargain as long as the person was willing to ship. These days, not so much. It's definitely not worth the effort for anything new, but...

    Anyone shoot AGB compliant crossbow?

I think this is the salient point. A crossbow is a different animal in terms of target requirements and the opportunities for people to turn up at a club with something that looks compliant but is actually way heavier, or a compound crossbow, is quite large. Clubs saying 'no crossbows' are...

    Bare shaft test for compound?

Your 3m and 50m sight mark are going to be the same. Shoot 50m, then go stand at 3m and shoot an arrow, walk forwards or back a small amount until it's hitting perfectly behind the aiming dot. At 3m you're not looking to 'hit the centre', you should be aiming at an arrow hole in the target face...

    Long Rods Down.

You do realise that the Korean womens team has never lost the Olympics since archery was reintroduced in 1988; their mens team has won a medal of some colour at all but one of those Olympics; and a Korean woman has won 8/13 of the individual golds? Honestly, the only way they could probably have...

    Sight marks

Draw weight has gone up. Arrows are stiffer. Stiffer arrows are heavier. Say you've increased your draw weight by a pound or so for 3/4 turn. Arrow weight has increased by (7.9gpi/7.6gpi = ) 4%. It's likely to end up being slower. Also, you've only given one sight mark. The bit you really care...

    Ultra light arrow build

As you guessed, your 500 spine is too stiff. If you're just chasing speed, buy some new shafts. 60 grain points are also asking for trouble in terms of wind drift. You'd be better off buying something around a 650-700 and putting a point in it which keeps the total weight down (I'd lean towards...

    Woven dyneema for strings?

Yeah. Because I want to use some quasi-Flemish twist string on a compound. That doesn't sound like it will end badly.
