Hey all, At Lilleshall I saw a copy of a book by Coach KIM (owned by our very own Graham POTTS, the book...not Coach KIM). Sumptuous book, hard cover in a protective cardboard sleeve. Details as follows : Author : KIM, Hyung Tak Title : Archery (??) - not too sure about the title :( ISBN...

    Catch up

It's been a while since my last blog... And a lot has been happening. More NSG work - the Level 1 qualification has gone for endorsement to UKCC, and we'll hear about that sometime in June / July / August. Level 2 has hit the streets, but will probably be tweaked over the next couple of years...

    AIUK American 4-Oct-2008

Just got back from the American at Pendle and Samlesbury. Thanks to Dave for the organisation of the shoot. And to all the unsung heroes in the background who did such sterling work on the day. The weather was ... well... wet, and not a bit windy. I actually had to take off one of my layers...

    AIUK ScoCo 26th 27th July 2008

As part of my month of being away weekends while Her Indoors and the sprogette are away in France til the 4th of August (did anyone mention departed cats and terpsichorean mice?), I headed up to Oban on Friday night, and managed to get in to Ayres Guest House (an Oban Guest House now well known...

West of Scotland FITA Thistle 19-20 July 2008

Imaginitive title, isn't it? And it's inaccurate... The shoot was on for those dates, but I only shot on the Sunday, having had a dose of lethargy on the Saturday. I'd seen the weather forecast earlier in the week and it hadn't looked at all good for Saturday - so I decided to give it a miss...

    Banchory FITA Star Sat 12-Jul-2008

:duh: :bang: - two of my favourite icons and bound to be cropping up in my blogs a lot... So... Banchory. Dull, wet, windy, miserable - and the same for everyone else. Simon Needham (bless his little cotton socks) decided to start a "grudge match" between the 2 Senior Coaches shooting today...

    Midweek field course shooting

Last week, I was invited to go and shoot round the Neptune Field Course at Faslane on Thursday. They have set up a 24 target field course, which is laid out over a wide variety of terrain. Several things have come from the experience... I am not fit. You have to climb about all over the field...

    Glasgow American 6-Jul-2008

The first in my July month of competitions. Got to Craigholme School playing fields in plenty time, and got set up. The conditions were not brilliant - light precipitation as m'learned colleague Murray described it, with a right to left wind which was gusting, then dropped away. There was a...

I am in danger of becoming an archer...

At the moment, I am "resting between engagements", so I have a little bit of time on my hands... A friend has allowed me to go and shoot on his land, and I have found a place where I am away from prying eyes, which is not too much on a slope, and where I can also store my boss. I shot there...

    Payment for Coaching

The question of payment for Coaching has raised its head above the parapet. as an archer : Would you pay for Coaching? How much would you expect to pay? as a Coach : Would you/do you accept payment for Coaching How much would you charge?

    For the curious...

Who am I? My name is Iain Wilson, I live in Moffat, Dumfries & Galloway. I am a Senior Coach with GNAS and am currently RCO (Development) for Scotland. I started archery in 1971 at the age of 15 with Aberdeen Archery Club, where I was taught by Frank Reid. At the time I was one of the top...

    Playing by the rules

It has been interesting over the last few days to "feel the love" that is coming in my direction for comments I have made in good faith, and trying to explain my position vis-a-vis several points raised on the Coaching Course thread - which incidentally have gone well away from the original...

    Meddler's Big Day Out

Over the past few months I have been promising myself a pair of new limbs. So, today... I went and did something about it. Jumped in the car and headed across from Moffat (temperature 0.5 deg C) and headed over to Mellerstain House (temperature 4.5 deg C). Got there about 10:30, with the...

    National Coaching Conference

I was at Lilleshall over the weekend, along with one or two other members of the AIUK board... viz bkupris, Bald Eagle, and 7,3 Miss... I don't know if anyone else from the board was there. As usual a packed weekend, and this year the conference was packed full of goodies. Dave Clarke, OlLie...

Coaching badges are just far too easy...

Taken from the BT release thread... John, I hope you have your tongue very firmly in your cheek... To someone of your calibre, and with the knowledge you have accumulated over the years, of course the badge looks "easy". When I taught French in secondary school, I just could not believe...

Coaching : Renewals and all that

Since the other thread has gone off topic, here's a new start... I have the feeling that the renewal forms have been modified, but the GNAS website hasn't caught up... We went through the renewal form at the Development Conference, and basically you fill in pages 1 to 3 - pages 4 and 5 only...
