    Uukha SX 50 Limbs

I have a set of long SX50s. They're okay: smoother at the back end of the draw than most limbs, but nothing special in terms of speed. Tuned without much effort, but I didn't manage to calm down the limb flap, so they felt a bit soggy when they hit bracing height. I put them on my Border...

    String for KG1 bow

64, 66, 69 and 72 as I recall. I did have one of their glossy and rather nicely designed catalogues for a while, but it was cleared out during a house move several years ago, sadly.

When recurve is like compound... angular vs linear draw

I know the video you're talking about that represents the Korean method in this way, but even a cursory glance at Korean archers on YouTube shows it's simply not true. Kim Hyung Tak's book explains it very well: the sight begins above the gold, and drops onto it as the draw is completed.

    Barebow ring

"capable of passing through" - that's the key phrase. As for how a judge interprets that... well. I intend to print a copy of the barebow rules out and keep it in my bow bag when I start competing later this month. Just in case.

    Beiter pressure button length.

I've only ever used 17.5-23mm Beiter buttons and they have fitted all my risers whether I'm using a stick-on rest or wrap-around, the Luxor included. But if you want to get an official recommendation, I recommend contacting Beiter. Andreas is very helpful :)

    “Less is more” limb’s poundage?

The figures aren't published yet, but I believe you're looking at a little lower than conventional, but not as low as the HEX limbs get. Maybe they'd be similar to the FX in that regard? I think what you're experiencing may well be down to the riser. But then, my CVs are fine on my Tempest and...

    “Less is more” limb’s poundage?

I was replying to Stretch about the Border CV-Ws I sold him. I bought them direct with the intention of working up to them, but then my left shoulder froze and an MRI confirmed a minor tear in the labrum. No surgery required and I'm shooting again, but the consultant recommended I stop treating...

    “Less is more” limb’s poundage?

Lost poundage? That is weird. I've owned a number of sets of Border limbs, and not a single one has lost draw weight over time. Anyway... As promised, I asked him about this. After a bit of a chat, he basically said that without looking at the individual archer, he couldn't say whether a limb...

    “Less is more” limb’s poundage?

Stretch - Glad you're enjoying playing with the CVs anyway :) Interestingly, I asked my physio about limbs that load up quickly earlier in the draw. I was specifically interested to know whether it would be better or worse for my bow shoulder (I was doing rehab for frozen shoulder, and an MRI...

    Stringwalking..how long should limbs last?

Just to note that limbs losing a little draw weight over the first year of use is not unheard of. I won't name the company or person concerned, but I once had some coaching from a sponsored archer who told me he factored in a 1-2lb loss when selecting his limbs. But in your case it doesn sound...

Drop away arrow rests for Barebow

I have a Zniper I need to sell on. Incredibly fiddly to set up and just too much to go wrong. I'm now shooting a Spigarelli ZT and love it. Pretty easy to adjust, solid, and no clearance issues at my 18m crawl.

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Here's hoping they allocate and release the new places in such a way that archers in different time zones get a chance to book some slots. It's good that barebow is now included, but this doesn't change my mind about not going. I'm waiting for the next EMG (if they decide to include archery)...

What is the dominant bow style in your club ?

Recurve by a country mile, and always has been in every club I've been a member of (which is quite a lot). In fact, if things carry on as they are, we may end up with more barebow than compound archers.

    Watching the Olympics

Discovery+, £6.99 for a month's subscription. It seems they screened some soundless footage from the qualification rounds. I watched a bit of the women's round.

    Barebow = Stringwalking?

Nah. I understand Roy Mundon used to shoot NFAS competitions as a stringwalker, competing against the target recurve/freestyle shooters. Used to beat them all quite often, or so I was told.

World masters Games - Japan 2021

It's a shocking state of affairs. I think the pandemic is no excuse. They'd clearly chosen a venue and programme that set a hard limit of 200 competitors long before COVID-19 reared its ugly head.

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Still no sign they'll be including barebow, so that's me out for sure. Looks like my next Masters event will be the EMG in Finland, 2023... if they include archery.

    Best reasonably priced formula limbs

Agreed. There's a good selection of CV Formula fit limbs on that list, for only £225 to £250. The CV limb is a more conventional recurve shape than Border's other offerings, but are very high performance for the money. I wish they still made them, personally, but I was lucky enough to get a...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

I'd basically given up on Kansai anyway. The organisation seems shockingly bad, and they clearly weren't interested in ensuring a good balance of competitors from other nations or including barebow archery. For now, I'm going to start planning for the EMG in 2023, and then wait to see what...
