    Changing wooden arrow spine

I was just wondering if anyone had experience of altering wooden shaft diameter and its effect on original spine?
I have for a while now wondered what would happen to the spine of an 11/32 heavy shaft, say Douglas Fir if I took an 80-85lb spined shaft (11/32) and then reduced the shaft to 5/16? I appreciate and understand that rear tapering will often reduce the spine by 3-5lbs but what about reducing the entire length of the shaft?
Has anyone tried this or have any data on the same please.
    Thanks

I got some new shafts a few years ago and while most were in the region of the 50-52# spine I wanted 2 were 60 & 61#. I simply kept them stock length and put them into the chuck of my electric drill and ran sandpaper up and down the shaft to reduce the diameter. I checked the spine regularly then carried on with the process, with the shaft ends swapped every time I did the check, until I got the deflection to the 50-52# spine I desired. Although the diameter was smaller it was not obvious enough to bother with. I then cut the arrows to the length I wanted and made up the arrows. As I shoot these at the field course from a horsebow they don't need to be exactly matched for my satisfaction. Hope that gives some form of answer for you to think about.

I still bite my nails which is why I used sandpaper.
