Grayvn have taken over Rudderbows, with no perceptible loss of quality. I ordered a floor tillered hickory stave, and they were good enough to ship it within a week. It arrived a week later. Now the fun begins! I glued a 1" X 3" half round in the geometric centre to serve as a handle, and set about beveling the back.
Spoke shaves are too expensive unless you're thinking of entering the bowyer trade, so I settled for a Surform pull rasp. That, and a coarse grinding stone in a 3/8ths drill, saw to the beveling mentioned above.
The beveling reduced the draw weight to 45#. There's no shelf, I'll shoot OtH.
Now for a string! Stay tuned I I'll use FastFlight, and dare it to saw through the hickory. One 69" Flemish twist bowstring coming up.
