The barebow recent article in ArcheryGB magazine Summer 2020 entitled 'Barebow for Beginners' by Roy Samples has significant errors. One of these states the weights fitted to the riser
="ArcheryGB Summer 2020"]'must not extend beyond the riser'.
This is incorrect.
For beginners who may not be aware of the rules the weights may extend beyond the riser but Appendix F section 11.4.1 The unbraced bow complete with permitted accessories shall be capable of passing through a hole or ring with a 12.2cm inside diameter +/-0.5mm and Appendix F section 11.4.6.2 Weight(s) may be added to the lower part of the riser. All weights, regardless of shape, shall mount directly to the riser without rods, extensions, angular mounting connections or shock-absorbing devices.

Well, the editor might not know barebow archery very well (or at all, I'm not even sure they shoot), which is why they've had a barebow archer write the article. The fact that barebow archer then wrote that any weight must be close fitting and then wrote it mustn't extend out of the riser is just poor writing by the fact that different risers allow different amounts. Of course, in target barebow, they requirement to fit through a 12.2cm ring has only come in during the last year or so... I think as recent as last year's outdoor season it didn't have to.
