Been in loft for years

Hi all

My recurve take down has been in the loft in its case de strung for about 15 years and I plan to start shooting again. Apart from visual checks on the limbs and string is there anything else I should do to ensure its safe. I was going to string it and leave it strung for a couple of weeks, not sure why though.

Any advice welcome thanks.

Hi. I wouldn't leave it strung, no. But stringing and unstringing it a few times over the course of a couple of weeks, once it's a ground level temperatures would be a better idea. Most modern carbon and composite material limbs are ok to remain strung, but if you have wood or glass fibre in there it's not a good idea even with new kit.
