Club banking

Hi all,

Just looking for some feedback on who other clubs use for their banking? We currently have a community bank account with Barclays which is great as it is free and has dual member sign off for payments, so no-one can steal any money out of the account on their own..... Downsides are that we cant have a debit card for it, cant set up standing orders to pay for indoor halls etc and cant take card payments through any of the mobile phone based apps, as they all need a standing order set up.

I know other clubs do take card payments on the field, it sounds like a great idea and very simple way of collecting payments from visiting archers etc.... So does anyone have experience of this, and how do you get your club banking done?

We have a business account with the Bank of Scotland which is free as we are a community group.

The restrictions are much the same as you mention, although I think that you can do regular payments (I've never had reason to want to). It also has internet access.

People pay by cash or bank transfer (in theory cheque too although I've never had one since I've been treasurer).

The restrictions have never been an issue for us. If we had a card facility we'd just need to put our fees up to cover the card fees. And our fees are so low that most people can pay quite easily with cash.

Thanks for the response, the big issue with us for people paying with cash is actually getting to a branch of the bank to pay it in, considering there are basically no branches left open near us!!

I must admit that I just keep the small amounts of money that we get paid for petty cash and only pay it in if too much accumulates. Small amounts of cash are useful if someone buys strimmer cable or two stroke oil or similar.
