Confused about brace height for a Samick Stingray

I've just bought a Samick Stingray and have been attempting to set it up.
The brace height should be 7 1/16" - 8 4/16" but when I string the bow, the brace height is 9" with an untwisted string.
Is the string too short? It is 53" long.

Y_Man,
I would say, yes the string is too short. Unless you measured the brace height from the string at the nocking point to the wrong part of the riser. Did you measure to the button or the throat of the grip or the side of the riser furthest forward from the string?

I'd be guessing a 55 inch string would be better, you could get someone to make you a universal string with a bowyers knot which can be adjusted and then work out the string length you need from that. As you've just bought it, the dealer needs to get it fixed and not supply you with clearly mismatched items.
