Equating scores.

We like to run some activities which will pit archers with different bow styles against each other. We’d want to try to “normalise” the scores so that everyone has a chance in the competitio. Can anyone point me in the direction of tables or spreadsheets/ formulas which would help with this?

the handicap tables shows scores (and allowances) for different bow styles at different distances on different target faces, so you can see that if a compound shoots a particular score for 3doz at 40yds on a 122cm target what a recurve or longbow at the same ability would also score

As bimble says, it sounds like you are after a handicap shoot or something similar. To run this you'll need to know each archer's handicap beforehand (or estimate it from their first distance/2 dozen). You can generate handicap tables and allowance tables here: Archery Handicap Table Generator - ArcheryCalculator.co.uk

By adding the relevant allowance for each archer of a given handicap shooting a given round the winner should be the one with the highest score.

Happy to elaborate on this if needed.

(personally I feel this is not a perfect system and you should actually award the best handicap improvement on the day, but that's not the official approach and is harder to admin.)
