Trad shelf rest replacement

Hopefully this is the right place since I am talking about shelf rests.

Looking to replace my bear hair rest and silent plate with something more plyable since the Ragim Impala shelf window has a slight curve in it and the stiff leather plate is peeling up (I stuck it close to center while still covering the button hole).

I'm also looking to avoid leather as it stains arrows terribly.

So I'm thinking of a bearpaw felt or buck trail calf hair but I would like to pick your brains for awhile Do you have an impala and shoot off the shelf? If so what shelf setup do you use? OR if you don't have and impala do you have any experiance with felt or hair rests Id love you to share them.

I am not a trad archer but what would happen if you used one side of a Velcro stick on patch? That stuff is pliable.
