UUKha formula bushes MKII

Hi folks

a couple of weeks ago Latheman made me some superb quality bushes to allow top/bottom rods to be fitted to UUkha formula limbs/adapters - Thanks Mr L.

The UUkha limbs don't come with the normal Hoyt bushing. These MkI design bushes only failed because of my over-optimism in the bonding power of specialist metal-to-composite glue (see my other post on this) - my fault entirely.

I had considered making a plate with welded bushes to span the two fixing screws for the adapters, which would have the advantage of a more or less central position for the bushes.

But I rejected this because the bush would not be directly fixed to the limb and the top/bot rod effectiveness would be reduced - and I thought that the plate could vibrate with the limb/adapter surface.

So Paul from [email protected] - kindly made me a superb pair of bushes to replace the M6 adapter screw closest to the riser (see pics) - the concept was a joint effort between myself and Mr Latheman. Paul was very proactive in refining the crude initial design - and did a fantastic quality job - thanks Paul.

Ok the position is not central between the limb-bolt and the limb fulcrum - but being mechanically fixed it shouldn't drop off! (fingers crossed).

and i think it will work perhaps 60-80% in vibration suppression compared to hoyt bush location, which is close enough. But far more importantly it will allow me to shoot my bow with my preferred balance set up. - cushty!

I have ordered a couple of high density nylon washers same dia as the bushes to go between the bushes and the limb to minimise stress damage - these should arrive with the post today

I will try em out this evening and let you know how they perform

Cheers

Im struggling to see the benefit of these? My uukha limbs have almost no vibration with a standard twins and long rod setup and tuning the bracing height. If you wanted extra weight on the setup, why not just add the riser weights Hoyt make for the riser?

Update, .... just shot a few test shots in the garden and I am delighted so far - the bow is MUCH quieter - and I have gotten back to the bow reaction that I used to have from my old riser and limbs. Grouping has improved too - probably because the bow has the balance and weight that I have gotten used to over the years.

I must admit that based only on a few shots, I think I will really like this Hoyt-UUKHA combo now that it has full stabilisation...

It seems to be very stable like my old Hoyt, but with the smooth draw and lively limb reaction of my old Yammy super-ceramics - could be interesting!

Full test tonight.

Hi Mr M - i guess everyone has different needs in the feel of the bow and it's reaction - I felt I needed more front-balance weight - but not with a lot of torque from additional long rod weights (i tried that and didn't like it)...... this seems like a good solution for my needs - and it feels great (so far). It's just my take, others would hate it no doubt - nice to have the option though. Can't describe it - it's something you have to feel for yourself.
