Why do we make bows

Having just finished a 5 laminated long bow that is the best bow I have made and am really pleased with the bow 76 long 55lb at 30inch Having shot the bow for a couple of hours there is very little string follow and a fantastic cast
Will post some pictures when I find the cable to connect the camera to the PC (kids got to love them)
But the reason for the question is I have only just finished this bow but am already planning the next one. The bow I have just finished is bow number 12

I find myself always looking to improve on the last bow.
The next stage for me is to fine some alternative timbers to work with.

To be honest I do not need any more bows I have plenty to shot
May be it is time to go out and shot them as we have the summer in front of us
and leave it till those long dark nights

It's the fun of creating something unique.
The cheque book hobyists can splash their cash, but even Bill Gates can't have your bow. (Although I s'pose he could afford to persuade you to part with it :) )
Also the the fun of seeing what it will do...certainly the case with my Chinese repeater...the only way I was going to get to play with one was to make one myself.
It saves money, and keeps me out of even worse mischief....

For me it is simply to save money (well it was anyway ;-)

I was paying over ?300 for bows which last me 6 months
It was getting very expensive
my latest bow cost me ?35

I also find making your own has the big advantage that you can then modify / repair them yourself as well
e.g. shorten to up the draw weight
